The United States accounts for more recorded runs on REACTOKEY than any other country, and it is the layout the test was built around: standard ANSI QWERTY, no dead keys, no AltGr gymnastics, apostrophe and slash exactly where the word lists expect them. If you learned to type on a US keyboard, nothing about this test is fighting you — which also means the scores here set the benchmark everyone else is measured against.
Because ANSI QWERTY puts nothing awkward in the way, American typists tend to plateau on rhythm rather than reach. If you are stuck in the 90-110 WPM band, the Top 200 Words drill is usually the fastest way out: the 200 most common English words make up a huge share of everything you will ever type, and shaving 20ms off each of them moves your average far more than getting better at rare vocabulary.
Country is detected from your browser's timezone and language settings rather than your IP address, so it reflects how your device is configured. You can set it explicitly on your account page if it has guessed wrong.
The commonly cited US office average is around 40 WPM, and professional transcription work generally expects 65-75 WPM. On this leaderboard, which is self-selected toward people who enjoy typing tests, the top of the board runs well above that — treat anything over 100 WPM at 97%+ accuracy as genuinely fast.
By words per minute, highest first, across every game mode and test length. It lists every game played rather than one row per player, so a player who has recorded several fast runs appears more than once. Narrow it with the mode, length and time-range controls above the table.
Just play. Every completed run is recorded automatically and your country is detected from your browser settings. Sign in first if you want your run to carry your username rather than appearing as anonymous.
Every mode ranks separately — scores are only comparable within one.
